Sidecar files on Android

OBJ files depend on their siblings. Extract the whole .zip (Files app on modern Android, or ZArchiver on older devices) so the .obj, .mtl and texture images sit in one folder. Then tap the .obj — Open3D picks up the sidecars from the same folder.

FAQ

Do I need the .mtl?

Only for colours and materials. Geometry loads from the .obj alone.

How big an OBJ can Android handle?

~120 MB on Pixel 6 / Galaxy S22 and up. Slightly less on cheaper devices.

Does it convert OBJ to STL / GLB?

Not yet. Use Blender or the free web converters for now.
